Dancing with Daddy!
It doesn't get any better than dancing in monkey pajamas with Daddy!
It seems like forever since I've posted anything, but really it's only been about a month. Life is hectic, but great - Abby will be one year old in about two weeks which is just crazy. Our friends Val and George just had their little girl, Gabrielle, about three weeks ago, our other friend Shayna is due in about a month and a half, and my wonderful friend, Dawn, is due in December. As Greg says, "I'm getting my baby fix in 2008!". Good thing too, because you can't help but reminisce about the baby days once your first turns a year old.

Devil's Lake Fun in 2008!
Every year we head to Devil's Lake in Lincoln City, OR. We rent a great house that sits right on the lake and has a dock for the boat. It's a big enough that both Robl families and the entire Wright clan can stay in peace and harmony. This year my brother-in-law Artie was able to make it, as was our newest Robl addition - Abby.
We always have a lot of fun riding out on Greg's dad's boat trying to catch a few trout - according to everyone the lake has absolutely no fish in it this year with the exception of the one Erv caught; making some waves in the lake, and trying to get the Wright kids to scream as loud as possible.
This year it wasn't as sunny as last, but we still made it to the beach to see the ocean and fly kites. Tommy and Elizabeth even made their way into the ice cold ocean - they must be part fish because there is no way I could have put more than my feet in that water. Abby spent most of her time on a blanket in the sand, but she had a lot of fun seeing the ocean for the first time and watching everyone around her...she's definitely a nosey-nelly and such a girl.
The rain didn't allow us to make s'mores this year, but we were able to get a few good fires going each night and just sit around doing nothing at night. Brianna was without her phone for a while, but her mom saved the weekend by bringing hers up on Friday night.
All the kids, Brianna, Lizzie, Joe and Tom were great babysitters for Abby while the rest of us were cooking and doing other things. It turned out to be a great thing we had so many eyes on Abby because as soon as we go to the house she decided it was time to show us she could crawl and pull herself up to a standing position. It was like she knew how to do it the entire time, but decided the lake house was a good time to show off her new talent. Once she got the hang of it there was no stopping the little bugger. She thinks it's incredibly funny when she crawls, so sometimes she falls from laughing so much ;-)
Unfortunately we did have one incident; Artie was cleaning off Erv's "catch of the trip" and slipped and fell into the water. We all agreed it would have been pretty funny (we're a sarcastic bunch) except for the fact that he hurt himself pretty bad and had a fairly decent sized gash in his left arm. Mom Robl patched it up as good as possible and he was supposed to go to the doctor's when he got home to see if it needed stitches. Other than that - and me hitting myself on the head with my camera (don't even ask) - the week went off without a hitch and we all had a great time. Fun in the Sun
Oh, how we love the sun!!!! Abby got to play with Eddie and Ellie this weekend when they came over to splash around in the little froggie pool. Ellie was excited about the mini-sprinkler attached to the pool, but Eddie seemed to care more about picking up all of the random golf balls that landed in our yard and putting them in the pool. When we emptied the pool later that night there had to be at least 25 golf balls in there - but they were nice and clean!!!
Mama Carlson brought over her "devil cakes" (otherwise known as cupcakes) for us to snack on, which we used for dessert after our spaghetti dinner out on the patio. All I can hope for is more sun, more sun and more sun!!! I will take a weekend with sun anytime. :)

4th of July & Ann's Birthday Weekend
We had a fun 4th of July weekend this year. Since it was on a Friday both Greg and I had a three day weekend. We couldn't find anyone to watch Scooby, so we weren't able to make it to Salem, OR for the festivies, but on Saturday we got up early and drove down there. Greg's sister's (Ann) 40th birthday was on July 5th, so we were happy to be able to pack up and make it down there to celebrate with her.
As for 4th of July, we bought Abby a fun 4th of July dress but it turned out that the weather was a little cold and the dress "shrunk" :), so we used it as a long shirt. Abby slept through the entire fireworks show in our cul de sac, which was huge. We had no idea how seriously our neighbors took 4th of July and the amount of fireworks that went off all night long was amazing...next year we will definitely consider having everyone over to see the show.
Ann seemed to have a great birthday. Mom Robl made sure we had plenty of snacks to nosh on all day long and then had a great dinner of pasta and other comfort foods later that day. Abby was hesitant, but excited to see her cousins, Poppy, Uncle Artie and Aunt Ann. Below are pictures of everyone taking their turn posing with Abby - and Ann showing off her new purse!!
On Sunday Greg drove home early in the morning to work on the bathroom (he's doing a huge remodel project right now) and the rest of us went to get pictures taken with the grandparents.
Afterwards we took off for home, but traffic wasn't all that great so we had to take a quick stop in the McDonald's parking lot in Olympia to change Abby into pajamas and feed her dinner. It was a good thing we did because she was out like a light by the time we got home and she went straight to bed!
